Eddie Wineland vs. Joseph Benavidez to Shake up the Batamweight Rankings @UFC on Versus 5 in Milwaukee
TweetIn a battle of bantamweights, Joseph Benavidez will get back in action at UFC on Versus 5 taking on former WEC champion Eddie Wineland. The UFC announced the bout on Tuesday.
Benavidez (14-2) may very well be the best bantamweight in the world not named Dominick Cruz. The Team Alpha Male member has faced some of the toughest challenges at 135 pounds, including a submission win over former champion Miguel Torres, but has fallen short in two attempts to take out Cruz.
Benavidez’s future may include a run at 125 pounds, but for now he’s happy to continue beating potential contenders at bantamweight.
The next challenge for Benavidez will be former WEC champion Eddie Wineland (18-7-1), who gets two Team Alpha Male team members back-to-back.
Wineland fought Urijah Faber to a decision at UFC 128, but came up short. Prior to that fight, Wineland had won four bouts in a row and looks to start a new streak at UFC on Versus 5.
