Looking to get back in to the win column, Cincinnati native Rich Franklin will return to the cage to take on heavy handed Brazilian Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 133.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) made the fight official today on Twitter.
UFC 133 is expected to take place at the Wells Fargo Center on August 6 in Philadelphia. This will the be the second event the UFC has held in Philadelphia.
Franklin (28-6) is coming off an unanimous decision loss to Forrest Griffin at UFC 126. The 36-year-old has now lost three out of his last five fights.
This will be the former UFC middleweight champion's third straight fight in the light heavyweight division. Since his move up, Franklin’s only win was over former UFC champion Chuck Liddell via KO at UFC 115.
Nogueira (19-5), also known as “Lil Nog,” is coming off back-to-back losses for the first time in his career. The 34-year-old had won his first two fights in the UFC which included a “Fight of the Night” and a “Knockout of the Night” performance.
UFC 133 does not have a main event yet but Vitor Belfort vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama and Jorge Rivera vs. Alessio Sakara is expected to take place on the card.
